Overview

ALITA 1074 High-Reactivity Flame Retardant Unsaturated Polyester Resin

CategoryFlame Retardant ResinCodeALITA 1074

Features

ALITA 1074 is a high-reactivity, reactive-type flame retardant unsaturated polyester resin. It features a remarkably low liquid viscosity and excellent wetting and impregnation capability for glass fibers, making it exceptionally optimized for the hand lay-up molding process.

  • Applications: Ideal for manufacturing flame-retardant fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) products, including marine vessels, transportation vehicles, cooling towers, structural building components, electrical cable boxes, and underground coal mining infrastructure.
  • Performance: Cured parts deliver exceptional flame self-extinguishing capabilities alongside robust mechanical integrity. When compounded with Aluminum Trihydrate (ATH) fillers, the end products demonstrate superior fire resistance, an ultra-low flame propagation velocity, and minimized smoke density emission indexes.
  • Flame Retardancy: Meets the performance requirements of ASTM E84-2009 Class A, achieving a Flame Spread Index (FSI) of 10 and a Smoke Developed Index (SDI) of 120 when compounded with ATH filler (100:100 by weight).

FRP Specimen Preparation & Post-Curing:
1. Formulation Ratio: ALITA 1074 Resin : ATH Filler = 100 : 100 (by weight).
2. FRP Structural Lay-up Profile: Specimen fabricated in accordance with GB/T 8237-2005 using 4 layers of 450g/m² Emulsion Chopped Strand Mat (EMC450). Specimen thickness for LOI testing is strictly 3mm.
3. Curing Setup: RCA Accelerator 2.0%, Curing Agent (Butanox M50) 1.0%.
4. Post-Curing Sequence: RT × 24h + 60°C × 3h + 110°C × 2h.

Usage Instructions

Recommended Reaction Dosage:
- ALITA 1074 Resin: 100 pbw
- ATH Filler: 100 pbw
- Curing Accelerator (RCA): 1 - 4 pbw (calibrated to workshop site temperature)
- Curing Agent (Butanox M50): 1 pbw

  • Accelerator Selection: Avoid colorless accelerators as they can cause incomplete cross-linking, resulting in a sticky surface. Use of RCA or alternative professional-grade accelerators specialized for UPR is strongly recommended.
  • Surface Tack Prevention: High workshop humidity or elevated temperatures can induce surface stickiness. Incorporating RS-102 solution at 0.4% - 0.8% is recommended to prevent air-inhibition.

Storage & Handling

  • Logistics Safety: Transportation must align with National Regulations Governing the Logistics of Dangerous Chemicals.
  • Storage Conditions: Keep containers tightly sealed and store indoors in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse below 25°C. Keep away from flames, heat sources, and solar radiation. Guaranteed shelf life is 3 months from dispatch.
