ALITA 8007 Novolac Epoxy Vinyl Ester Resin

CategoryNovolacCodeALITA 8007

Overview

ALITA 8007 is a medium viscosity, high-temperature resistant novolac epoxy vinyl ester resin. Based on a novolac skeleton, it outperforms standard Bisphenol-A epoxy vinyl ester resins in heat resistance, acid resistance, solvent resistance, and resistance to oxidizing media. It maintains high performance at elevated temperatures, making it an ideal heavy-duty high-temperature anti-corrosion resin.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to most acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and selected organic solvents.
  • Processing: Excellent wettability with fiber reinforcements; easy application.
  • Mechanical Properties: Outstanding overall mechanical performance; neat resin castings achieve a HDT of 150°C.
  • Performance Grade: Heat and corrosion resistance equivalent to DERAKANE MOMENTUM® 470-300.

Applications

  • Suitable for hand lay-up, spray-up, filament winding, pultrusion, RTM, and other FRP forming processes.
  • Widely used in on-site heavy anti-corrosion work, e.g., FRP lining of metal or concrete structures, lining mortar jointing/grouting.
  • Especially suitable for manufacturing FRP equipment and products for high-temperature wet chlorine environments, strong acids, strong alkalis, acidic oxidizing media, and organic solvent environments.

On-site Recommendation: Factors affecting gel time include ambient temperature, humidity, substrate temperature, dew point, initiator/promoter concentrations, fillers, and additives. Always conduct a trial mix on-site before large-scale application.

Storage & Handling

  • Packaging: Clean, dry 20 kg iron drums, 200 kg iron drums, or 1,000 kg light-proof plastic IBCs.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry, ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Shelf life is 6 months at 25°C. Periodically opening the container to exchange air and stirring may extend shelf life. Promoters and initiators must be stored separately.
  • Transportation: Transport in compliance with the current PRC Regulations on Safe Administration of Hazardous Chemicals. Refrigerated transport is recommended May–October; otherwise arrange night-time transport to avoid direct sunlight. Initiators and promoters must be strictly segregated and must not be stored or transported in the same container or vehicle.
